What You'll Do In The Role

TECHNICAL

  • Assist in the preparation of reports, technical memorandums, recommendations, and cost estimates
  • Attends to details in preparation or review of calculations, drawings, and specifications
  • Capable of 480 VAC designs, detailed conduit routing, P&IDs, load studies, power distribution, lighting and process control, short circuit studies, single line diagrams, elementary diagrams, MCC layouts, electrical specifications, logic diagrams, control schematics, assist in field construction and start-up activities.
  • Conducts quality management reviews of instrumentation and control designs
  • Design, model, simulate and test complex electronic circuits, subsystems and systems.
  • Designs PLC SCADA networks for medium and large systems
  • Designs radio telemetry SCADA systems using microwave, spread spectrum, licensed MAS, cellular or other radio technologies
  • Designs SCADA network block diagrams
  • Develop P&IDs, control strategies, control panel layouts, input/output point lists
  • Develops scopes of work for I&C systems, networks and projects
  • Develops preliminary and final construction cost estimates for I&C
  • Evaluate materials and systems, identify equipment and instrumentation, and prepare work instructions for manufacturing.
  • Identifies alternatives, evaluates each, and determines appropriate actions to move forward
  • Identify opportunities for automation to support continuous process improvement and plant safety initiatives
  • Maintain, update, and troubleshoot advanced operator interface equipment
  • Manages the instrumentation portion of medium to large-sized instrumentation and control projects for water and wastewater treatment facilities
  • Participates in continuing editing and development of I&C master specifications
  • Perform PLC programming, troubleshooting, and program documentation maintenance
  • Perform Variable Frequency Drive installation, programming, and troubleshooting
  • Prepares ISA data sheets and instrument sites
  • Prepares specifications for instruments, computers, networking equipment, PLCs, and associated components
  • Prepares technical memorandums and reports
  • Specifies industrial fiber optic networks, systems, and components
  PROJECT
  • Assist in the development and review of project specifications
  • Develops project-specific specifications for unusual or unique instrumentation applications
  • Monitors scope, schedule, and budget and controls the work to the project plan
  • Perform factory and site inspections
  • Prepare and Review submittals
  • Provide input to bid and proposal activities
  • Understands, implements, and enforces company and client technical standards on projects

Qualifications You Should Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Instrumentation and Control Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical power and control systems
  • PE License is a Plus
  • Electrical experience working on water/wastewater related projects is a plus
  • A qualified candidate will be experienced with: Allen-Bradley SLC500, Allen-Bradley PLC5, Allen-Bradley ControlLogix 5000, Allen- Bradley 160 Drives, Allen-Bradley Powerflex 40, 70, 700, 755 Series Drives, Allen-Bradley Kinetix Servo Systems, Allen-Bradley Panelviews, Allen-Bradley Communications – DH+, RIO, Devicenet, Ethernet, GE, WonderWare Selected, LG, AutoCAD
  • Willing to travel 20% of the time – Domestic and international travel
  • We're currently remote due to COVID-19 but once we return to the office, this position will report to our office in Miami, FL
